Do's and Don't's - READ THESE BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR TITLE!

When submitting your book to Alterna - please DO the following:

*Keep your submission pitch short and sweet. One paragraph would be great, Two pararaphs would be okay, more than two... not so good. We'll know immediately if your book's concept is something we're interested in seeing more of.

*Include as many preview pages as possible. We prefer a minimum of 5 finished pages, but if you've got an entire book that's finished, please by all means send us the entire work.

*Let us know your prior comics experience. We want to have some idea of what you've been through in the past, though if you have no experience, this will not work against you.

*Keep in mind that we get a lot of submissions and it will take us at least a week to get back to you.

*Make sure all information you send us is relevant and updated, this includes website links, artwork, creative teams, and more.

When submitting your book to Alterna - please DON'T do the following:

*Remember, in your submission pitch we only want to hear about your book. Let us know all the other things you've got going on AFTER we get back to you and tell you that we want to hear more.

*(If you are submitting a PRINT book) Please remember that you are required to pay for printing and shipping of your book. If you cannot afford to pay for a print run (about $1,000 and higher) then we will have to pass on your book.

*(If you are submitting a DIGITAL & MOBILE book) you can submit in color and you can submit an ongoing series. You are, of course, allowed to either self-publish the book in print or send it to another print publisher - though we will own the digital publishing rights for the remainder of your contract.

*Please don't send us multiple emails asking if we've received your submission. Someone will get back to you within a week.

*Don't submit a book that seems like it's been done 100 times before. We're looking for original works only.

*Don't submit an "idea" or a script for a book. We want books that have creative teams attached already, with pages already completed. Make sure your cover is completed as well.

*If you aren't prepared to do at least 10 signings & conventions a year, please do not submit your work to Alterna. We want creators that are active in the success of their books.
